Format
One clear set of rules for the banquet, all three sessions, live scoring, the Calcutta, and a possible playoff.

The foundation
Rules that apply to every match
Every golfer plays all three nine-hole sessions.
Each hole is won, lost, or halved. The match result—not total strokes—earns the point.
Matches are played straight up. No handicap strokes are given.
Each player uses the blue, white, or gold tee shown with their name on the match card.
One player claims the match and records the result of each hole for the entire group.

Best Ball
- Two-player teams compete in match play.
- Every player plays their own ball on every hole.
- The lower score from each team determines that team’s score for the hole.
- This is best ball—not a scramble.

Alternate Shot
- Partners play one ball and alternate after every shot.
- Before the match, partners choose who tees off on odd-numbered holes and who tees off on even-numbered holes.
- The match tees off in the published pairing order after Round 1.

Singles
- Each player competes in one head-to-head match.
- All 18 players from each team compete.
- Matches tee off in the published pairing order after Round 2.

Every match is worth one point.

The live scoreboard adds completed match points from Best Ball, Alternate Shot, and Singles.
If the full tournament ends tied
Sudden-death singles playoff
- After the final round and before any playoff hole, each captain submits a blind ordered list of six players.
- Neither captain sees the other team’s selections before submitting their list. A player may appear only once.
- The first players compete in a one-hole singles match on Hole 1. If they halve it, the next players compete on Hole 2.
- The process continues with a new pairing and the next hole until one team wins a playoff hole.
Weather policy
Rainout & shortened-play rules
The Ryder Cup will be rescheduled for two weeks later. Available players may participate, and a new draft and new pairings will be set. The Ryder Cup Committee will decide whether another banquet can be held.
Only fully completed rounds count toward the team score. If play is stopped during a round, every match in that round is void—even matches already completed. Those points and results are not added to the record book.
Every auction purchase tied to a voided match is canceled, and the full purchase amount is returned to the original bidder.
If the score from the completed full rounds is tied, the Ryder Cup officially ends in a tie. The tie is entered in the records and shown on the trophy; no playoff is held.
Saturday night
Calcutta rules
Each side of a matchup is auctioned separately in nomination order. Every matchup creates its own pot.
The buyer of the winning side receives the combined amount bid on both sides of that matchup.
The pot is not divided. Each buyer receives their original purchase price back.
Buyers may privately split ownership after the auction, but those arrangements are separate from the official auction.
Every player has the option to buy back one-half of their own auction interest.
All auction purchases are cash and must be paid Saturday night immediately after bidding.
